Sometimes I think to myself, "This photography thing really couldn't get any better". And then I do an engagement shoot with my sister Carrie and her awesome fiance Drew. It just got better.
I mean, really. How lucky am I? I get to do something I love with the people I love. It officially doesn't get better than this. We chose Fells Point and Potapsco State Park as our backdrops. Fells Point is where they had their first date and where Drew proposed in December. It's a great place because of all the nooks and crannies that make for a lot of neat shots. Potapsco is a beautiful park that spans Howard and Baltimore County and is really close to Carrie and Drew's new house, which you'll see featured in some shots! Potapsco is also one of Carrie's (and my!) childhood favorites. We had a blast! Carrie and Drew are one of those couples that can basically ignore the camera. This doesn't mean they didn't know I was there, or that they didn't take my directions when I gave them, but they were just incredibly natural. Most of the time I just left them be and snapped candids. Lots of laughing and smiling. I can't help repeating how lucky I am. I truly could not have picked a better man to marry my sister, and getting to be a part of such an exciting part of Carrie and Drew's lives is incredibly special. Can't wait to get the pictures up online to show off!

If you have never been to Sherwood Gardens, as was the case with me before today, I suggest you go.
Now. I'll wait. Ok, you can finish reading, but as soon as you have a chance, make your way into the city to see this beautiful place. Sherwood Gardens is a tulip garden in northern Baltimore City and I can't believe I've never stumbled on this little gem. To begin with, the houses that surround it are incredibly beautiful. I think I could spend all day there taking pictures of just the houses. Luckily, I had some more interesting subjects today. Kat and Hunter chose Sherwood Gardens as the site for their engagement session. We couldn't have asked for a better day! Warm, breezy, and with just the slightest bit of cloud cover so there was no glare or squinting! On top of that, we're at peak tulip season due to the warm winter so there was an abundance of blossoms. Although this was our first meeting, it took no time at all to warm up, and we ended up having a great time. They made my job easy! The beautiful blooms combined with such a great couple made for some incredible shots and I'm looking forward to editing them and getting some up online! Good luck to Kat and Hunter as they get ready for their wedding in sunny Florida next spring! |
