Family Session: Claudia and Jacob

As someone who grew up in Catonsville, I have a deep appreciation for the gorgeous little town just down the hill from us, Ellicott City. Not only does it offer a great number of shops and restaurants that are just too much fun to explore, but it is a fantastic place to take photos.

There are so many spaces and textures, it is all I can do not to go hog wild with my camera every time I'm there.

I've done an engagement shoot before, but this time I was taking some Christmas themed photos for Claudia and her little man Jacob. It was a chilly, but bright day and we got right to it. Jacob was recovering from an ear infection and a cold, so I have to give him credit for being such a champ about the whole thing. 

Although I absolutely adore taking photos in Ellicott City, what really stood out to me about this shoot was the magic of the holiday season. Although Jacob wasn't feeling his best, any mention or sight of something Christmas related brought a huge smile to his face. It was clear that he absolutely loved Santa and the elves and anything that sounded like a jingle bell. It made me realize that although Christmas was magical as a child, it's just as wonderful to watch that childhood magic as an adult.
