Wedding: Akeembra and Jarret

This week has been so busy, it has taken me a few days to find the time to sit down and write this post. It certainly isn't due to a lack of enthusiasm! I've been bursting to talk about Jarett and Akeembra's wedding all week.

Just like I predicted in February, their wedding was both beautiful and fun. One of the best things about it? It was almost ALL DIY. Akeembra might have hired me as her photographer, but I am going to hire her as my wedding planner when the time comes! I've never seen so much DIY done SO WELL.

I arrived at the hotel around 9:30 and met Akeembra as she came in from getting her hair and make up done. I followed her up to her room and got some great shots of her getting ready. Like with any wedding, she was receiving last minute phone calls detailing so called "crises" and she handled them like a champ. It was obvious just how excited she was to walk down the aisle, because the smile never left her face.

Due to the heat, they decided to hold their ceremony under a gorgeous weeping willow, instead of in front of the bell tower. I think they should thank mother nature for her relentless rays of sun because the willow ended up being the perfect backdrop for their ceremony. White and pink flowers hung from the branches and moved gently in the breeze. It truly was beautiful.

Moving on to the reception. Let's just say Akeembra and Jarett's friends and family really know how to have a good time! I would say the fun really got going during the first dance.. I think I speak for everyone when I say we were fooled when the lovely, heartwarming moment screeched to a halt as their song began "skipping". What at first appeared to be a hiccup in their perfect day quickly turned into a memorable moment as the entire bridal party joined Akeembra and Jarett as they got down on the dance floor to "Da Butt".

From that moment on, the day was all fun. Hearfelt speeches, happy tears, and of course, lots of dancing. It was clear just how happy Jarett and Akeembra were to be with each other and everyone they loved. I really can't wait to put up pictures that capture their happiness and love.

Rebecca you were absolutely wonderful to work with. You listened to what we wanted from our wedding photography and went above and beyond to make everything happen exactly how we wanted it. You even went as far as to help me when I got back to the hotel with only 5 minutes to spare before needing to leave for the ceremony (I can’t thank you enough for that).
We are still getting comments from our friends and family about how great you were.

Not only are you a joy to work with but the photos exceeded our expectations - the quality, colors, lighting etc. We can’t stop looking through them. Thank you so much for capturing our special day!

Love,
Akeembra & Jarret
